Theresa Mary (Barber) Stockwell
September 10, 1930 - January 6, 2021
Theresa was born in Colchester, Vermont and resided in Richmond for most of her growing up years. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1949. She married her high school sweetheart, Stanley A. Stockwell June 28, 1953. They built their first home in 1953 – 55 in Bolton and resided there until the State of Vermont took their home for the present interstate 89 highway. They resided in Essex Jct. where their two sons, Steven and Jason graduated from Essex High School.
Theresa was employed in various positions, mainly secretarial. In her spare time, she liked to read, knit, crochet, and work in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for her sons and a 4H Club gardening group leader.
She came back from retirement and worked several years as a Lister for the Town of Bolton. After retiring to Bolton, Theresa moved back to Richmond in 2013 and made many wonderful new friends.
Theresa was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1998 after more than 45 years of marriage, her mother Mildred Barber Burnell, her stepfather Ernest L. Burnell Sr., brothers Clifton, Ernest Burnell Jr., Jerome Burnell, and sister Virginia Burnell Wortheim.
Theresa is survived by her sons, Steven and his wife Robin of Richmond, Jason and his wife Marth Prince of Jericho, brother Robert Burnell and his wife Jean, sisters Edna (Henny) and her husband David Johnson, Elizabeth (Lizzie) and her husband LeRoy Reed, sister-in-law Bertha (Sue) Baker Burnell (her card playing partner) and several wonderful nieces and nephews who did many errands for her and kept in close contact.
Her family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to these wonderful people at Richmond Terrace who made her happy with playing cards, singing, weekly coffee hour, and other social gatherings. We also want to say a special thank you to Gillian, Stephanie, and Mary, who took wonderful care of her and made her happy.
