The Laird of our Clan, Robert (Roy) R Davie, 97, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021, at Mansfield Place in Essex. His daughter was with him, holding his hand while they listened to a beautiful violin concerto.
Roy was born in Alloa, Scotland on February 1, 1924, to George and Barbara Davie.
Roy (our father) was a brave soul, having enlisted in the RAF (Royal Air Force) as a teenager, and serving as a co-pilot in World War II. He never lost his love of planes, especially the. Lancaster bomber.
As a young man he became an accomplished violinist and earned trophies golfing across Scotland. In 1947 he married his schoolmate and sweetheart, Betty Izatt. The couple immigrated to Canada in 1954. Roy worked as an application engineer for various industrial pump companies in Canada and moved to Vermont in 1976 where he worked for Hayward Tyler, Inc. He retired in 1993. In Vermont he continued his love for music playing the drum in the St Andrews Society pipe band; a true Scotsman.
Roy was predeceased by his wife, Betty formerly of Colchester, Vermont. He is survived by his son George (Karen) of Naples, Florida and his daughter Anne of Shelburne, Vermont. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Sara, Melinda and Jeremiah, Evan, Joanna and Nora as well as great grandchildren, Braxton, Greyson, Oliver and Eleanor.
