Julian Haftarczuk, 69, of Williston, VT, passed away in the arms of his loving wife on August 16, 2020 at the McClure Miller Respite House. Julian battled a courageous 4-year battle with cancer.
Julian was born in Poland on September 5, 1950 to Adolph and Romualda Haftarczuk. Julian immigrated to the United States and married Barbara Anna Punda on July 15, 1972 at the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church in Linden, New Jersey. They moved to Vermont with their family in 1980.
Julian was employed by Velan Valve for over 35 years. He was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Williston. Julian had many talents and was known for his meticulousness, whether building his deck, tending his flower beds or being his sons’ barber. He enjoyed sports, especially playing golf and volleyball, and coaching his sons in soccer. Julian loved being a Dad and was especially proud to bring each of his young adult sons to his birthplace in Poland to meet many family members for the first time.
In addition to Barbara, Julian leaves two sons, Christopher and Jonathan; daughter-in-law Valarie (Smith) Haftarczuk; and his brother Zygmunt and sister Elizabeth. He also leaves Barbara’s siblings, and several nieces and nephews, all who loved him dearly.
Besides his parents, Julian was pre-deceased in 2017 by his son, Alexander Julian Haftarczuk, with whom he shared a birthday for the 42 years of Alex’s short life.
A private funeral Mass was held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, with the Rev. Oliver Saligan officiating. Burial followed at Deer View Cemetery in Williston, next to his son Alex.
The family wishes to thank the prayer ministry of Immaculate Heart of Mary and Our Lady of the Holy Rosary parishes for their support and constant prayers over the past years.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Julian’s memory can be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, P.O. Box 1047, Williston, VT 05495.
