Harold Frances Young Jr., 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Gazebo Senior Living with members of his family by his side.

Harold was born in Stowe, Vermont on December 9, 1928, the son of Harold F. Young Sr. and Bessie Clark.  He married Pauline (Mickey) Young on July 2, 1950 celebrating 58 years of marriage while raising their three (3) children in Richmond. He developed many mechanical skills including certification as a diesel mechanic first working side by side with his father at the Overrocker Plant in Richmond and later at the Frank W. Whitcomb Construction Company as foreman of the asphalt plant prior to his retirement in 1992. Harold and Mickey were active members of the Richmond community venturing out with fellow members of the Hale and Hearty Club, grew giant pumpkins for display on their front lawn, were faithful annual ticket holders of the Expos/Lake Monsters baseball team and enjoyed years of watching their grandkids sporting events.

Harold was predeceased by his wife Pauline in 2009. He is survived by his children; Brenda Leible (Paul) of Richmond, Jim Young (Ellen) of Richmond, and John Young (Kerry) of Jericho and grandchildren; Jason (Jenn), Christina (Juan), Maureen (Greg), Alison, Nicholas, Parker and Andrew. He is also survived by six (6) great grandchildren; Ethan, Arabella, Cooper, Wyatt, Gabriella, and Liliana.  

The oldest of 12 siblings, Harold is survived by his sister Pat Thibodeau of Arizona, brothers Larry Young (Charlene) of Jericho, and Raymond Young (Jean) of Arizona as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters; Ramona, Ruth (Fran), Dorothy (Roger), Beverly (Jeff), and brothers; Fred, Robert, Richard (Cecile), and Edward (Carol).  
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the care given to Harold, affectionately known as “Poppa”, at Gazebo Senior Living these past five years. No better tribute can be said than how comfortably he felt “at home” and how often he commented about enjoying everyone at Gazebo as his own family.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gifford Funeral Home, 22 Depot Street, Richmond, VT on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 between 4:00pm – 6:00pm.  A family graveside service will be held the following day at the Riverview Cemetery in Richmond, VT.
