Isabel M. Parent, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT. Mollie was born on May 11, 1935 to Walter and Agnes (Kilpeck) Mahoney. She was raised and attended schools in Richmond and Mount Saint Mary’s in Burlington, VT. She married Thomas Parent on November 10, 1956 at Holy Rosary Church in Richmond.
After raising her two sons, Tim and Jeff, Mollie spent over 30 years employed by the Econolodge/Best Western in South Burlington, VT. She valued hard work and instilled that same work ethic in those around her. She loved going on drives to Parent Construction job sites with her husband and sons, and spending time with her siblings, lifelong friends and new ones she made everywhere she went. Mollie had a youthful spirit and irreverent humor that was truly one of a kind. She put everyone first until the day she passed– praying for us, worrying about us and taking care of us.
Mollie is survived by her two sons; Jeff of Hinesburg and Tim and wife Linda, also of Hinesburg. She was the proud grandma to six grandchildren– Jessica and husband Matt, Dan and wife Emily, Libby and partner Jeff, Charlotte, Sam and Will. Mollie was the beloved “GiGi” to four great granddaughters, Moriah, Sienna, Laila and Langley. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Mary Mahoney, sister and brother-in-law Maureen and Ed Phillips, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jack and Janet Harvey, sisters-in-law Marilyn, Betty and Joan Mahoney and many nieces and nephews. Mollie also leaves behind lifelong friends, Marsha Casey and Elaine Hart, and “adopted sons” Mike Driscoll and Mikey Wedge. She was predeceased by her husband Tom and her brothers Dick, Tom and Bob.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff on Shepardson 4, for your compassion and attentiveness to Mollie during her time there. We are beyond grateful for your spirit, sense of humor and accommodations during a difficult time for our family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mollie’s memory to the VNA (Mail to: UVM Health Network Home Health and Hospice, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, Vt. 05446.) There will be no calling hours, per her request. A church service will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. Jude Church in Hinesburg. Following the service, a reception will be held at the church to remember Mollie.
