Frederick P. Carter, 83, of Richmond, VT, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 surrounded in the love of his family. He was born May 13, 1936 in Burlington, VT to Harold George and Wilma (Lamb) Carter. He graduated from Middlebury High School high school in 1954. After graduation Frederick served in the U.S. Navy as Lt. Commander. Following his active duty assignment, he continued to serve his country in the Naval Reserve and Commander of the Burlington Naval Group.
Frederick received his Bachelor’s Degree from Springfield College in 1958. He taught physical education, then was a residential building contractor in Chittenden County until retirement.
On August 3, 1963 Frederick married the love of his life, Dolores Taran. They were married for 55 years and made many happy memories together.
Frederick developed an interest in gardening, managing a backyard vegetable garden for many years. He was an avid reader and collector of frog memorabilia.
In addition to his parents, Frederick was predeceased by his brother, David George Carter. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Dolores; his son Michael and his wife Michelle and their children Garrett and Abby of Richmond, VT and his daughter Jennifer and her husband Richard Keil of Scottsdale, AZ.
Frederick will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 12, 2019, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Richmond, VT.
