It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Alton R. Ladieu, 77, on April 22, 2019 at his home in Williston, VT. Alton was a resident of Richmond, VT for many years.  He was born in Uxbridge, MA on October 28, 1941 to Winslow M. and Marguerite P. (Lapan) Ladieu. 


An Army veteran of the Vietnam war, Alton served in the artillery unit.  On February 17, 1989 he married the love of his life, Carolyn Barber. They made many happy memories during their 30 years together.


Alton was employed in drilling and blasting for many years retiring in 1998.  He worked on the blasting crew for interstate 89 construction in the 1960’s.  Alton was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.


Left behind to cherish Alton’s memory are his wife, Carolyn; his son, Charlie Ladieu and his partner, Jen Sheltra; his daughters Dona Culver and her husband Scott, and Danielle Manning and her husband James; grandchildren Charlie Ladieu, Jr. and his wife Laura, Tiffany Ladieu, Hannah Ladieu, Olylia Ladieu, Morgan Sheltra, Dahrian Sheltra, Nathan Culver and partner Julia Cummings, Brandon Culver and his partner Shannon Tremblay, Jordan Culver and his partner Tori Briggs, Taylor Culver, Taygan Manning, and Michael Manning; great-grandchildren Lukas Ladieu, Mackenie Ladieu, Tucker Ladieu, Shayla Jones, and Theodore Tremblay-Culver.


Also surviving are his sisters, Joan Blackenburg, Edna Johnson and her husband Mike, and Linda Gilbert and her husband Robert; his brothers David Ladieu and Duane Ladieu and his wife Debbie; many nieces and nephews.


Alton was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Reid Ladieu and sister-in-law Florence Ladieu.


A service will be held in the park in front of the Old Round Church on Saturday, May 11 at 10:00am with military honors,
